in the protologue Ducke mentions only the common names of this species in Pará, Brazil ("pau-rosa") and French Guiana ("bois de rose femille"), and the use of this species for the essential oil "Bois de rose", and makes no reference to the genus

, so there is no evidence that he was forming his epithet from "two or more Greek or Latin words" and that a correction to "
rosiodora
" or "
rosodora
" is justified under
